We are finally on our way. With a 2:50 departure time from Atlanta we had some time to spare in the morning. Everyone work up uncharacteristically early with the anticipation of the trip. I was able to get some last minute work done and the girls took turns at the shower.
We had already packed, but there were a few last minute things that needed to be checked. A lost charger for the video camera was quickly found, iPods synchronized and everything in the house needed to be unplugged.
Chris spent her morning at a yoga class and and my daughter I decided to take the horses out for one more ride. It was not such a good day for a ride, a bit overcast with the promise of rain, but the prospect of three weeks between a ride on Ingrid was enough to get my daughter motivated.
Athena was not in the mood for a ride. She decided to protest by pinning her ears back followed by some halfhearted bucking but my persistence paid off and away we went. The short ride went well followed by some quick maintenance on one of Ingrid’s healing leg and Athena’s foot. Then kisses and hugs for the horses.
A very strange thing happened; there we all were ready 30 min early waiting on Bobbi to pick us up for the ride to the airport. I can’t remember the last time the girls were ready early to go anywhere. So here we sit on our flight to Atlanta, then Dubai and finally Nairobi. With the quick out of bed and hectic morning, now we wait, traveling half way around the world to our adventure.
AI – OUT!
